Kleos Mastiha is Greece's first luxury spirit brand, created by the only female distiller in Greece. The raw ingredient, Mastiha, is a sap from the Skinos tree that grows in only 24 villages in the Southern part of the island of Chios. Mastiha is known as the 'diamond of spices' because of its rarity, and also the ancient world's 'super ingredient' due to its variety healing properties.

 

Mastiha is made by hand in small batches via distillation of the rare Mastiha 'tears' and the addition of Mastiha essential oils.

Kleos Mastiha is made arguably by Greece's best craft distillery, Isidoros Avanatis, the makers of Greece's favourite Ouzo.

There are 14 beautiful copper pot stills with 2 dedicated to Kleos Mastiha spirit, allowing for a revival of the long lost tradition of distillation with the actual sap, giving Kleos Mastiha a wonderfully pronounced but balanced concentration of that distinct flavour and aroma of Mastiha.

 

Isidoros Avanatis is home to Greece's only female distiller. This super-taster helped finalise the last 17 formula iterations, to achieve the perfect balance of a spirit that can be consumed:

 

  • Neat or on the rocks, with a wedge of lemon
  • As a cordial that pops in cocktails and mixes 1:1 with virtually every base spirit on the back bar
